Ms. Julie M. Forrest, LCSW is a Licensed Certified Social Worker committed to treating individuals, couples, and families. She has more than 18 years experience as a psychotherapist and has worked in a variety of settings including in-patient care, administration in community mental health, the Veterans Health Administration and private practice. Her clinical interests lie in treating relationship issues, bereavement and loss, difficulties with life transitions, and issues related to changing family dynamics.
Julie uses a systemic and strengths-based approach in working with clients and the relationships they have in their lives. Using an integrative model of change, she highlights the strengths of different theories to fit the client’s identified needs. Using this approach, the client and therapist work together to identify areas for change and growth.
Julie received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi. She has post-graduate course work in Substance Use Disorders. Julie also has extensive training in crisis intervention, experience in couples’ issues and family relationships across generations, including identifying dysfunctional relationships as well as career transition issues. In addition to her clinical work, Julie pursues her interests in supervision and is a board certified LCSW Supervisor.
